Contact your legislator

It is always important to reach out to your Minnesota State Senators and Representatives. At the state level, every call counts and as few as 5-10 calls send a very significant message.  You can call them at anytime and leave a message. If the legislator is unavailable, you may speak with his/her legislative assistant.  Remember that you do not need to be an expert on any of the issues.

You can find your legislator and their phone number by at: www.gis.leg.mn/OpenLayers/districts/

The key things you need to say are:
1. Where you are from
2. What church you go to
3. What you care about. Example: You care about the most vulnerable
4. Your solution. Example:

Here is an example of a call to legislators who voted for a bill to cut key programs for vulnerable Minnesotans:

Hello _____, my name is ___ and I am a member of _____ Church in ____. I am calling today because I am concerned with the Legislature’s action that might cut services for the most vulnerable Minnesotans. I am especially concerned with ________. This program helps _______. As a person of faith I care deeply about all people and think that we should do everything we can to help those in need. Please call me back to let me know why you supported a bill that cut from these programs. My number is ____. Thank you.
